In the early hours of the morning, between exits 36 and 37 on the westbound lanes of the Southern State Parkway in Babylon, a fatal accident occurred. As per the police report, a 16-year-old boy was driving a 2009 Nissan Altima in the westbound direction when the car veered off the road and collided with trees and vegetation on the north shoulder. The passenger sitting in the front seat, identified as 17-year-old Osmar Vasquez, was pronounced dead at the scene by the authorities.
The driver was taken to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in critical condition. The police have launched an investigation into the crash, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact them at 631-756-3300.
