Who was Dan Fowlie?

Dan Fowlie was a well-known voice in the world of professional rodeo, having announced numerous events and sales, including the prestigious Benny Benion bucking horse and bull sale during the Wrangler National Finals. Fowlie was also a former competitor in various rodeo events, including steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc, and bull riding. He rodeoed his way through college to help offset the costs of competing and eventually became an announcer after sustaining an injury while competing in steer wrestling.

With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Fowlie was able to draw from an extraordinary wealth of knowledge and experiences to provide insightful and exciting commentary during rodeo events. He had announced at numerous PRCA rodeos and other rodeo events, including Rodeo de Santa Fe, Buckeye AZ’s Helzapoppin Rodeo, Queen Creek Roots & Boots, and Cave Creek AZ’s WWM PRCA Rodeo. He and his wife Annette, along with their four children, also enjoyed participating in rodeos together and raised horned cattle specifically for use in the industry.

Dan Fowlie, a renowned rodeo announcer, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023, leaving the rodeo community in mourning. Fowlie was the voice of the Yuma Jaycees Silver Spur Rodeo in his final days, and his cause of death has not been disclosed by his family as of writing. Those who knew him described him as a completely genuine person who was serious about his job and dedicated to his craft as an announcer. Just a month before his passing, Fowlie was in Scottsdale announcing the 70th annual Rodeo Scottsdale out at Westworld, demonstrating his commitment to his work until the end. Found out this morning that a dear friend Mr Dan Fowlie past away. He was more than just a friend. He was family to our family and many others. He was a man of great wisdom and was always honest and told you his opinion rather you wanted it or not. He was a man who could be so very sincere when it came to our country. He took his announcing serious and knew everyone by name. We will miss hearing your announcing and being able to just talk about life in general. You will be greatly missed Dan and our prayers go out to the Fowlie family.

I’m short for words right now, bad news is not easy to take. Michael and I, and the sport we love lost a good friend a rodeo announcer with a huge personality and a good kind person. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dan Fowlie’s Family his wife Annette, daughters Macie, Savannah and sons CJ and Sterling.

We will miss your humor, your voice , your late night calls driving to another rodeo or trying to get home from one. Most importantly we all will miss your friendship.

Words can not express the loss of this good man!!! All I know is God must have a huge rodeo going on and he needed the best damn announcer so he called him home! Annette Fowlie I wish I could wrap my arms around you and the kids! All of you are in my thoughts as you grieve this loss! I know deep in my heart that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an imprint in our memories!
