Who Was Bobby Hull?
Bobby Hull, better known as the “Golden Jet,” is one of hockey’s all-time greats. Born January 3, 1939, in Point Anne, Ontario, one of eleven children, Hull achieved hockey superstardom. When he dropped out of St. Catherines College in 1957 to join the Chicago Black Hawks, no one could have predicted the talent he possessed. He would become the first player in NHL history to score more than 50 goals in a season when he netted 54 in 1965-66 and went on to achieve 50 or more goals five times. His unbelievable accuracy led him to being recognized seven times as the NHL’s seasonal leader in goals. Nearly 26 years later, Bobby was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame for his legacy and achievements within the league.

After retirement, Stan Mikita dedicated himself to his work as a cattle rancher in Canada and was an ambassador for the Blackhawks. The partnership ended last year following the deaths of fellow alumni Tony Esposito and Stan Mikita. His role as a true legend of the sport will forever remain in the hearts of fans worldwide.

Sad day for the Blackhawks and the hockey world. Bobby was a fantastic ambassador for both the Hawks and the game he will be missed. I met him in 2003 when I was running a hockey store in Darrien he was there to sign autographs and promote the game. He was great to every kid that came by to see him.

Very sad day! He was an icon like no other. Met him several times waiting in line for autographs it took forever because he loved talking to people. On one occasion I went to get his autograph and my friend had to work and it was his birthday when I finally got to Bobby and explained to him that my friend had to work I asked him if I called him could he wish him happy birthday and he said absolutely!
