On a Friday night in Newark, a tragic motor vehicle accident occurred that left six people injured. The accident took place at the intersection of Library Avenue and Wyoming Road, and emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene. Among the injured was Sabrina Navaretta, a 16-year-old girl who became trapped in one of the vehicles. Rescue teams worked diligently to extract her from the wreckage, a process that took roughly 20 minutes. Once free, she was treated at the scene before being transported to the Emergency Room at Christiana Hospital. The other five victims were also treated, with four of them being transported to the same hospital. One victim, however, refused treatment and remained at the scene.

The University of Delaware’s Emergency Care Unit was one of the teams that responded to the accident, along with County Paramedics and the Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder personnel. Thanks to their quick and efficient work, all of the victims received the necessary medical attention.

Newark police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident, and Library Avenue between Wyoming Road and Farm Lane was closed for approximately three hours while they conducted their investigation. Details of the accident, including the number and types of vehicles involved and the conditions at the time of the crash, have not been released at this time.
