Riley Strain

Riley Strain, a senior student at the University of Missouri who went missing on March 8 after a night out downtown, was found dead on Friday morning, March 22, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. His body was discovered in the Cumberland River in West Nashville, approximately 8 miles from downtown.

Metro Police Chief John Drake stated that the department received a call from an employee who was searching for evidence of Strain’s disappearance. This individual reported searching along the river banks when they saw Strain’s body surface at around 7:30 a.m. The authorities were notified, leading to the recovery of the body at 7:28 a.m.


Circumstances of the Discovery

Strain was found wearing the same attire he had on the night he went missing, including his black and brown shirt and watch. No signs of foul play-related trauma were observed on the body.


Investigation and Autopsy

An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted later in the afternoon on Friday, March 22, to determine the cause of death. The circumstances surrounding Strain’s disappearance and the events leading up to his death remain under investigation by the authorities.
