Izak Steven Wixon was born on August 20, 2003, in Pipestone, Minnesota, to Todd Wixon and Dawn Sherman. When he was four years old, his family relocated to Pipestone from Balaton, where he spent his childhood. During his school days, Izak actively participated in sports and had a particular fondness for wrestling and football. In his senior year of high school, he worked at Hank’s Grocery while completing his education. After finishing high school, he moved to Brookings and held several jobs at Walmart, Casey’s, and Daktronics. In 2022, Izak received his diploma from Brookings High School and began working at Bowes Construction, where he was employed until the time of his tragic passing.
Despite facing difficult situations, he remained a brave and positive young man, always finding a silver lining in every challenge he encountered. His passing is a great loss to his family, friends, and community, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was involved in a work-related accident and unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023. The heartbreaking news was confirmed through a social media post made on Wednesday that expressed the immense sorrow and pain of losing such a young life. The post stated that Izak, who was only 19 years old and just beginning to discover his path in life, had gone to stay with his mother and grandfather. Despite his young age, he had already made an impact on many people’s lives through his delightful sense of humor and kind personality.

Obituary and Funeral Arrangements
The family and friends of Izak Wixon, who passed away on May 2, 2023, will hold a memorial service on Monday, May 8, 2023. The service will take place at 11:00 am at Victory Christian Church, located in Balaton, Minnesota. The memorial service will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend in person. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation held on Sunday, May 7, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings, South Dakota. A prayer service will begin at 5:00 pm during the visitation. There will also be a visitation held one hour before the memorial service at the church. This gathering will provide an opportunity for the family and friends of Izak to come together and honor his life while offering support to one another during this difficult time.
