Tonya Knight’s Bodybuilding Career
Tonya Knight’s career in bodybuilding was marked by both triumph and controversy. In 1988, before the Ms. Olympia competition, she was caught using a surrogate to take a mandatory drug test and was subsequently stripped of her 1989 Ms. International title and ordered to return her prize money from the 1988 Ms. Olympia and 1989 Ms. International. However, Tonya refused to let this setback define her and made a triumphant return to the bodybuilding stage in 1991, where she went on to win the Miss International title. Despite this victory, Tonya only competed in two more professional contests, the last of which was in 1993. In addition to her bodybuilding career, Tonya was also known for her appearances on the popular American television show, American Gladiators, where she competed as Gold from 1989 to 1992. Unfortunately, she was forced to leave the show due to a knee injury.
