Who was Tom Love?
Tom Love was a highly respected community and business leader, who alongside his wife and business partner, Judy, founded the Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores network. Born in Oklahoma City in 1937, Tom attended St. Gregory’s Preparatory School in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and later went on to study at St. John’s University in Minnesota. In 1954, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps before returning to Oklahoma to marry Judy in 1960. The couple used just $5,000 to lease an abandoned service station in Watonga in 1964, and from there, they went on to open 40 stores in western Oklahoma in the next eight years, under the then-name Musket Corporation.
