Who Was Terry Becker?
Terry’s journey began in 1948 when he was born to Arnold E. and Bettye Marie (Pruitt) Becker. He completed his high school education at Reitz High School in 1966. Furthering his education, he earned a Bachelor’s degree from Hanover College and a Master’s degree from the University of Evansville. Between the years 1973 and 2012, Terry dedicated his time to teaching vocal music and leading fine and performing arts programs at Thompkins Middle School, North High School, and Signature School. His talent was also evident in his roles as a director and assistant director of the EVSC All City Choir on multiple occasions.
Terry’s remarkable skill with musical instruments, particularly the piano and organ, made him a highly sought-after musician in the Tri-State area. He used his expertise to guide around 50 productions at Thompkins, North High School, and Signature School. Additionally, he participated as a music director and performer in 18 Civic Theatre productions. Beyond these endeavors, Terry extended his influence to various community and professional projects. These included collaborations with the University of Evansville, Reitz High School, Studio 3 Performing Arts, Brundibar, New Harmony Theater, and even the 2023 musical production of Annie in Mt. Vernon. Terry’s dedication to music and the arts left an indelible mark on those around him.
Terry Becker Died in An Accident: What Was His Cause of Death?
Terry Becker’s life was tragically cut short due to a bicycle accident that resulted in severe injuries, ultimately leading to his passing. Friends, family, and loved ones are deeply saddened by the loss of a dear friend, a guiding mentor, and a cherished companion. The F.J. Reitz High School Theatre expressed their condolences on a Facebook post dedicated to Terry, stating,
“It is with a heavy heart we share the passing of Reitz HS Alum, Terry Becker.
In addition to over 30 years of service to the EVSC Summer Musical program, Terry was also a blessing to us with musicals recently, including this photo from Little Shop of Horrors rehearsal in Feb 2020.

Obituary And Funeral Arrangements
A time has been set aside for friends and family to remember Terry. The visitation will take place on Friday, September 1, 2023, starting at 2:00 p.m. and lasting until 7:00 p.m. This event will be held at Alexander Funeral Home-East Chapel, located at 2115 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, Indiana 47714. Another opportunity for visitation is scheduled for Saturday, September 2, 2023, starting at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 11:30 a.m. This session will be held at First Presbyterian Church, situated at 609 Southeast Second Street, Evansville, Indiana.
Following the second visitation, a funeral service will be conducted at the same First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 2, 2023, commencing at 12:00 PM. The final resting place for Terry will then be arranged on the same day at Sunset Memorial Park, located at 1800 St. George Road, Evansville, Indiana 47711.
