What happened at Georgetown District High School?
The incident took place at Georgetown District High School, located in the area of Guelph Street and Maple Avenue. Shortly after 3:20 pm, police announced that the school had been placed on lockdown due to the incident. According to Halton police Const. Steve Elms, the youth suspect entered a classroom and allegedly attacked a student with an edged weapon before fleeing the school. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries via Ornge Air Ambulance. While the youth suspect has been identified, they have not yet been located.
Following the incident, there was a heavy police presence reported in the area, and three other schools were placed on hold and secure as a precaution. The lockdown at Georgetown District High School was lifted later in the day, with police confirming that the suspect was no longer believed to be at the school. Update: Stabbing at Georgetown District High School
A 17-year-old male student from Georgetown District High School (GDHS) has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred at the school. The suspect is facing charges of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The lockdown and hold that were put in place have since been lifted. The young offender was held in custody pending a bail hearing, and his name was not released due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
