Who Was Skyla McGlown?
Skyla McGlown, from Purvis, Mississippi, was a wonderful 19-year-old young woman who brought joy to those around her. Her vibrant spirit and constant willingness to lend a hand made her truly special. Skyla had recently graduated from Purvis High School in 2023, and she had big plans ahead as she had just begun her journey at Pearl River Community College (PRCC) with much excitement. Her next birthday, coming up on September 2. Skyla’s positive presence, filled with smiles and a helpful nature, left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Skyla McGlown Car Accident: How Did It Happen?
Pearl River Valley Coroner Derek Turnage shared that Skyla McGlown, a 19-year-old from the town of Purvis, tragically lost her life in a single-car accident that occurred around 6 a.m. on August 30. The accident happened on U.S. Highway 11, a road between Lumberton and Poplarville. According to the coroner, McGlown’s car overturned as she was navigating a curve on the highway. Tragically, she did not survive the accident and passed away at the scene. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

I’m beyond speechless. I never knew her personally, as in we were not close, but I will never forget that gorgeous smile of hers. I remember finding out she moved from Salem and wished that she could’ve stayed there till I left. I know US-11 well being as I made MANY of trips up and down that highway and know that it is dangerous, especially at night. Skyla Mcglown was someone who I never saw sad. She made me realize a lot of things including to live my life to its fullest and always look up at the bright, positive. At least, that’s what I remember thinking every time I saw her smiling. From this day on, no matter what, I will live MY LIFE to its fullest and always stay positive like Skyla. Yeah I know I may hit some bumps in the road, but it’s ok! That can happen! You will be missed by so many and the memories of you will last a lifetime

Obituary And Funeral Arrangements
A gathering to remember and honor the life of Skyla McGlown will take place on Saturday, September 2, 2023, which also marks their birthday. This event will be held at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, starting at 2 in the afternoon and continuing until 3 in the afternoon. Following the gathering, a special memorial service will commence at 3 P.M.
