“River Ludemann, YOU young man were a TRUE cowboy. He LIVED being a cowboy everyday. Training and working with horses at such a young age. Unreal the talent he had with horses. I’ll be forever greatful to have these memories of him working with our sassy a$$ little pony, “Lil Joe.” Your patience and perseverance with him was remarkable. Jess and Shane, it’s because of parents like you that our western way of life continues. Thank you for allowing us to know such an incredible cowboy. The “why” is going to lenger for a very long time. Trying to make sense of this doesn’t make sense at all. Look up to the Heavens. Trust His plan. God wrap his arms around this family. The crew at Korkow Rodeos is thinking of you guys.🙏💔

The incident prompted a joint response from various agencies, including the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks, the Fort Pierre Volunteer Fire Department, the Pierre Rescue Squad, and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
