The Tragic Incident: Michael Carr Died

The incident involved a 2015 Jeep Cherokee driven by 48-year-old Peter Thomason from Devine, TX, and a 2016 Toyota Scion operated by Michael Carr. According to the initial investigation, Thomason was driving south on LA 23 in his Jeep Cherokee, with Carr’s Toyota Scion directly ahead of him. For reasons still under investigation, Thomason initiated a lane change, moving into the left lane but ultimately returning to the right lane. Unfortunately, this impact resulted in a collision with the rear of Carr’s Toyota, causing it to veer off the road and collide with the concrete base of a utility pole.

Despite being properly restrained, Michael Carr sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Toyota suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby local hospital for treatment.

The Investigation:

During the on-scene investigation, signs of impairment were evident in Thomason. A breath sample revealed a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit. As a result, Thomason was arrested and booked into the Plaquemines Parish jail on charges including vehicular homicide, vehicular negligent injuring, and reckless operation.
