Who was Mae Ballard?
Mae “Bonnie” Ballard was a cherished member of her community, having been born and raised in Hart County. She was also a dedicated member of Greens Chapel Church of Christ. Bonnie lived a life filled with love and devotion to her family. She cherished the time she spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren, and always put their needs before her own. Bonnie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who touched the lives of all who knew her with her kindness and selflessness. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
Mae Ballard was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Willie Ballard, and her children and grandchildren who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her son, Christopher “Petie” Ballard; her parents, James Earl and Annie Bunnell; and one brother, Earl Wallace Bunnell. Despite her passing, she will be remembered fondly by her surviving sister, Janice Newby, as well as a special niece, Bridgette Honaker (Sherman), and several great-grandchildren.

In honoring the life and memory of Mae “Bonnie” Ballard, a graveside service has been scheduled for Friday, February 10, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Horse Cave Municipal Cemetery. The service provides an opportunity for Bonnie’s family, friends, and loved ones to come together and pay their final respects to the departed.
