The accident occurred on Thursday, April 13, 2023, near mile marker 37 on Interstate 77 in Raleigh County between Ghent and Beckley at around 6:30 PM. According to reports filed by the West Virginia law enforcement, the accident happened when a vehicle allegedly crossed the median and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer. The Turnpike Division of the West Virginia State Police confirmed that one person was found unresponsive at the scene, while the other was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Sadly, both the father and son did not survive the crash.
