Who was Jason Willis?
Jason Willis was born in Rome, Georgia, on January 10, 1975. He was the son of Dr. Gary Eugene Willis and Carolyn Colston Willis. Jason graduated from Coosa High School in 1993 and went on to study at Shorter College and Covington Theological Seminary. He earned his master’s degree in theology from Covington Theological Seminary.
Jason Willis was a man of many talents and passions. He was the Founder and Director of 2:10 Ministries in Isla Mujeres, Mexico, a local outreach ministry in Floyd County and Northwest Georgia. His work in ministry was far-reaching, as he pastored at multiple churches throughout his career, including Live Oak Baptist Church, Town Creek Baptist Church, Lakeview Baptist Church and Oak Hill Methodist Church. Jason Willis made an indelible impact on these ministries and communities during his tenure as pastor, leaving a lasting legacy behind him.
Jason was passionate about a variety of things: hunting, fishing, cooking, grilling, and music. He also had a fierce allegiance to Georgia football and was fortunate enough to witness their three national championships. When it came to food, he much preferred Little Debbie’s, Mexican Coke, banana-less pudding, and chocolate cake. But Jason’s greatest gifts were his exceptional roles as a father, husband, son, mentor, uncle, and pastor. When it came to his children’s activities, he was always the hands-on dad who was always willing to help out in any way he could. He welcomed all with open arms and shared the love of God through his veins. teaching us all how to be selfless, loving, brave, and confident—but most importantly, showing us that life is something to be lived each day.

Today we lost one of my best friends, Jason Willis. We had so many good times together including him convincing me and officiating marrying my bride! I can never repay him for the times we have had together, and I sure hope heaven is stocked up on Reece’s and Mexican cokes! He was a friend to everyone he met. Hope your hairs great, and you look pretty up there! Love you brother! Can’t wait to meet again!
