According to security camera footage, a van crossed four lanes of traffic, resulting in a collision with a bike ridden by Caridi. The impact caused the bike to burst into flames. Despite the prompt action of witnesses, including an off-duty doctor, Caridi, who was a father of three children, passed away at the scene. The driver of the van, a 21-year-old man from Hove, was unharmed but was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, according to the police. Following the incident, loved ones have placed flowers and messages at the crash site, including one that says, “We’ve got your kids forever,” which is heart-wrenching.
