Dr. Bock was more than just a veterinarian, she was a mentor to many in her field, always striving to improve her skills and provide the best care possible to her patients. Who was Dr. Evelyn Bock?
Dr. Evelyn A. Bock is a renowned veterinarian who has been serving the St. Louis community for over four decades. Born and raised in Dodge City, Kansas, she completed her high school education at Dodge City High School in 1962. Afterward, she went on to study veterinary medicine at Kansas State University and started her career in St. Louis. In February 1975, she became the proud owner of Southwick Veterinary Hospital and has been providing exceptional care to animals ever since. Evelyn is passionate about animal welfare and enjoys cycling with her husband as a hobby. They have explored various destinations across the US, Canada, Denmark, and the Netherlands on their bicycles.
Dr. Evelyn A. Bock was a remarkable individual who lived a life filled with love, devotion, and compassion. She was a devoted sister to her brother Paul Bock and a cherished wife to Robert “Bob” Arrowood, with whom she spent 53 years of her life. In March 1975, Dr. Bock first opened her veterinary office in the Central City Shopping Center on Lemay Ferry Road in St. Louis. In December 1992, she moved to a brand-new veterinary hospital at 4814 Lemay Ferry Road, where she continued to provide exceptional care to all animals.
She was highly regarded by many as a wonderful friend and a sweet person. Her sharp mind, inquisitive nature, and dedication to her career made her an admired figure in the community. Dr. Bock was also an avid baseball fan and enjoyed playing games with her friends. With a heart of gold, she loved each and every animal that entered her hospital and provided them with the care and attention they deserved.

Dr. Evelyn Bock, a beloved resident of St. Louis, Missouri, and a respected veterinarian, recently passed away on February 3rd, 2023. Dr. Bock was the owner of Southwick Veterinary Hospital and had a wealth of experience in the field of veterinary medicine, holding a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. Her death was announced on her Facebook page on February 6, 2023, sending shockwaves through the community. At the time of this publication, the cause of her passing had not been made public. Obituary and Funeral Arrangements
The passing of Dr. Evelyn Bock has been announced on social media, and her loved ones are inviting friends and family to pay their respects at a wake to be held on Thursday, February 9th, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at Kutis Funeral Home on Lemay Ferry. Her funeral will take place the next day, Friday, February 10th, at 10 a.m., also at Kutis Funeral Home. Dr. Bock’s husband has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Open Door Animal Sanctuary in her memory. Evie was top of our class, brilliant but always kind, compassionate, and generous with her time and expertise. I was just thinking of her this morning, intending to give her a call later today. Rest in peace Evie…your friendship will be terribly missed.

She was the kindest most compassionate person to my dogs and to me. How can she be replaced?
