Tragedy struck as Dakota Embry, a 24-year-old inmate, has tragically lost his life shortly after being taken into custody and booked on charges. On Friday, June 2, 2023, around 5:10 in the evening, Embry was apprehended following his escape from the Northwest Community Corrections Center in Bowling Green. Sadly, just five hours later, he was discovered lifeless at Escaped Wood County, leaving investigators and authorities searching for answers. Embry’s escape partner, 36-year-old Justin Firman, was also found with him in Fostoria at approximately 12:30 on Friday. This shocking event has raised significant questions and concerns regarding the circumstances surrounding Embry’s death.

How did Dakota Embry die? What was his Cause of death?

Following an alert regarding escaped inmates, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to the prison on Thursday night at approximately 8:30 pm, as stated in a press release. Authorities, relying on information gathered from interrogating individuals who may have been involved in the escape plot, successfully located the two fugitives on Friday. The circumstances surrounding the escape are currently under investigation, and both individuals face charges related to their escape.

Dakota Embry was taken into custody at around 5:10 pm on Friday and was subsequently lodged in the Wood County jail. Tragically, later that evening at approximately 10:34 pm, Wood County jail guards discovered Embry unconscious in his cell. According to a press release issued by Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn on Saturday morning, CPR was immediately initiated by the guards, and paramedics were called to the scene.

Despite the efforts of the first responders, Embry was pronounced dead at the scene. The specific cause of his death has not been disclosed to the public, and Sheriff Wasylyshyn stated that there were no indications of foul play. The Lucas County Coroner’s Office will conduct further investigation into the matter. It is worth noting that in 2022, Embry, a resident of Bryan, was charged with felony possession of a substance related to fentanyl in Henry County Common Pleas Court. He pleaded guilty in December and was subsequently assigned to a program at the Northwest Community Corrections Center, which he was in the process of completing.

In Bryan, Ohio, a visitation has been scheduled for Dakota Embry, the 24-year-old inmate who was recently taken into custody and booked on charges. The visitation will take place on June 8th, from 5 to 7 p.m. Following the visitation, Embry will be cremated, and a memorial service is set to be held at the Krill Funeral Home on June 17th at 2 p.m. The service will be conducted by Ted Pollock.
